Netflix-style streaming website UrduFlix will soon be available in Pakistan. Earlier in October, Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry had tweeted that the government would soon launch Netflix like website, which has been completed and a number of instructions on how to air content from PEMRA have been prepared.
So far, the government has not made any announcement regarding streaming website, but private digital media platform E-Max Media has announced the launch date of “UrduFlix”.
Last month, an entertainment website reported that Farhan Gohar, founder of E-Max Media Group, had confirmed that he was going to launch a streaming website soon.
According to a recent Instagram post by E-Max Media, the first Urdu OTT platform “Urdu Flix” will be launched in mid-January 2021.
Emax Media, the internationally acclaimed digital network has forayed into the on-demand streaming segment with the announcement of Pakistan’s first Urdu OTT platform, offering original and exclusive content in Urdu worldwide. The OTT platform is officially expected to launch in mid-January 2021.
Turkish dramas including dramas, films, documentaries, comedy and reality shows will also be aired on Urdu Flix with Urdu dubbing. Urdu Flix also has an official Instagram account, whose posts indicate that an original web series is being prepared for this first OTT platform in Pakistan.
There is also a picture of actress Aliza Shah on Instagram in which she is in the role to be played in the web series. Will be shown on Flix. In another post, it is written with the picture of actress Mashal Khan that be ready, Alina Ali is coming soon.
Remember that for subscribing to Netflix or other similar streaming sites, the user has to pay a monthly fee after which he can watch movies, dramas and other entertainment content on the said site.
Netflix is a US video streaming company that launched its services in Pakistan as well as in 130 countries on the occasion of Consumer Electronics Show 2016.
